Using Office – Tutorials

The following tutorial videos have been created to show you how to use Office features on your computer.

The information outlined below will provide students with the options to:

  • Use OneDrive to upload / download resources (such as completed homework)
  • Use the web based app versions of Microsoft Office (Note: Students can download a copy of Microsoft Office and install on their computer free of charge. Click here for details)

OneDrive

OneDrive is a feature of Office365 that allows documents and files to be created, edited and saved directly to a users account. In addition files can also be downloaded from OneDrive and worked locally on a computer or edited on-line using the web version of Office365. Students can access OneDrive through their school email account and password. Please see the videos linked below which will demonstrate the various ways of how to use OneDrive.

Uploading a document or file from your computer

If you already have an existing document or saved file you can upload the file directly from your computer to your OneDrive storage. Once uploaded the file can then be accessed in school.

Your school e-mail address is your normal school network log-on ID followed by @flhs.wigan.sch.uk

Sending a file or folder to your teacher

You can use OneDrive to upload a file or folder and then send it directly to your teacher.

Downloading documents or files to your computer

Students can download documents and files from their OneDrive stroage and save them directly to their own computer.

Office web apps

 

Office web apps allows students to use a scaled down version of Microsoft Office programs through their web browser without the need to install Microsoft Office to a computer. Please refer to the following video for more information:

Creating / editing a document or file using Office web apps

Students may also utilise OneDrive with the Office365 web apps to create / edit and save documents and files, the files can then be accessed in school.

Please see the video linked below which will demonstrate to you how to use OneDrive via the Office web apps.

Note the below video uses the web version of Office 365 and does not offer the full capabilities of the main Office programs (click here for how to obtain the full versions at no cost) but will normally be more than sufficient for the tasks set in school.
