Brian Taylor started playing the Cornet at the age of 7 years old. He comes from an extremely musical family and was initially taught by his father with his two older brothers. At 15 years old, Brian was taught by Ray Peacock and became a member of the prestigious Fairey’s Brass Band where he later became principal cornet, a position he held for more than twenty years. Brian has played in many concert halls all over the world, notably winning five national championships at The Royal Albert Hall, five British Open contests and one European Championship. In addition to this, Brian has performed as a guest soloist in Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore and has worked with some of the biggest names in the brass band genre.

Brian teaches brass at The RNCM and The University of Salford, is a tutor for the Scottish Youth Band and is the Brass peripatetic for Lancashire Music Service.
