Things to celebrate
- On Thursday, a number of our KS3 students attended a Dance trip to see ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Lowry Theatre Manchester. A wonderful time was had by all.
- It is fantastic to see how many of our students are taking part in the extra-curricular opportunities available to them at lunchtime and after school. Please encourage your child to get involved if they haven’t already done so. Please see our website for more information on all the extra-curricular opportunities that we offer.

Homework and Self-directed study
What our students can expect in terms of Feedback on their homework:
At FLHS, we strive to provide timely and purposeful feedback. A variety of methods will be used to provide feedback, such as whole class feedback, verbal feedback, ‘where next?’ feedback and follow-up tasks. Quizzes, spelling tests and numeracy tests will provide students with immediate feedback. We may use more extensive, targeted marking on longer tasks which may require written feedback.
It is vital that students engage with their feedback and respond appropriately in order to move their learning forwards
Homework Club
Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday in the Library (apart from Monday week B) where support and IT equipment is is available.
Personal Development
The final character trait that we will be focusing on is being committed. Having commitment is a key character value as it means that we can sustain our effort and perform over a period of time. It is linked to resilience and motivation. Look at how Kevin Sinfield has shown incredible commitment recently competing 7 ultra-marathons in 7 days! Key information on being committed is found below:

Message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
Next week, the Year 11 mock exams commence. The students have been working hard to prepare themselves for the papers and everyone here at Freddie’s wishes them all the very best. The mocks are a steep learning curve, and an opportunity to practice and refine exam techniques before the real exams take place in the summer. Whilst we of course want the students to do well in the mocks, it’s not uncommon for mistakes to be made, and I want to reassure Year 11 that if this is the case – it’s fine. You will learn a lot in the next few weeks and any mistakes made, hopefully won’t be repeated in the summer. It’s all part of the learning process. Good luck.
Regards,
Mr Davies.
