Summer Hampers Drive

Dear Parent/Carer,
 
The Christmas hamper donations were such a resounding success that we’d like to do it again for the summer holidays. Six weeks can be a long time when you’re struggling and as a community, we understand times are tough so as a school we would like to do something to help.
 
A mum sent us this email when a hamper was delivered at Christmas:
 

I just wanted to say thank you for our hamper. I'm writing this through tears as I had just that morning been in Aldi to get bread, toilet roll and some beans and had to put the beans back because money had run out... I’m poorly at the moment and had just fallen asleep when these two beautiful humans knocked on. We live so far away and I'm so grateful for the journey they made! I was so disorientated when I answered the door...I made sure and gave them a hug each and to say thank you, but it was a blur!! So please tell them thank you, and that you all have no idea how much this helped Xmas...all I need to do now is get some mince and chicken and we can all have a nice (non-frozen meal) Xmas day meal each! They all shared the bag of sweets tonight; they were all very excited! Thankyou thankyou thankyou to everyone who donated, asked for donations, made them up and helped get them delivered xxx

This summer term we would like all the children to get involved in helping us out to make hampers for the community.
 
Each form is going to be given a reusable bag and we would like, if possible, for each child to bring in 1 item from a list (or more if they are able) to put in this hamper bag. 
 
Form tutors will cross off the list as we go so that all the hampers are roughly the same size and contents.
 
At Christmas we were able to send out hampers to over 25 families (2 bags per family) and gave approximately 10 bags to the local food bank.
 
During our last hamper drive our target was 50 hampers and 1,500 items and your children smashed through this target and were absolutely wonderful. I wonder if we can make even more for the summer?
 
We would love it if all the students could get involved in some way. It will be a wonderful feeling that they, as a form, can see the efforts of their hard work and know that they are providing some much needed support for members of our community.
 
If you know any businesses that would like to get involved, please pass them the school’s details and we would be happy to discuss any help they are willing to offer.
