Dear Parent/Carer,

Below is a reminder of the key dates for the Year 9 Option Process this year as well as further information regarding the opportunity to book an individual interview with a nominated senior member of staff.

The key dates within the subject selection process are as follows:

Thursday 13th February 2025 - Year 9 Parents’ Evening:

We recognise that the decisions that you and your child will need to make over the next few weeks are vital to their future success, so we recommend that you should speak to your child’s teachers about potential subject choices, considering their ambitions and current progress. There will be Curriculum talks by Mr Davies, the Head Teacher, in the Assembly Hall at 5:15pm, 5:45pm & 6:15pm.

Tuesday 25th & Thursday 27th February 2025: Individual Interviews

By appointment, there is an opportunity to attend an interview with a nominated senior member of staff to discuss your child’s subject choices. We strongly recommend that you attend this interview with your child. There will be choice of either an on-line interview or a face-to-face interview. The on-line interviews will be conducted Tuesday 25th February and in person on Thursday 27th February. All appointments, either on-line or in person must be booked using the internet-based booking system School Cloud.

You will be able to book appointments from 5pm on Thursday 13th February 2025 (Login codes and booking details will be sent out via email prior to 13th February 2025).

The closing date for booking appointments will be 11:59pm on Sunday 23rd February 2025.

Friday 7th March 2025: Final deadline for the return of your child’s subject choices to Mr Thomson.

Please note that it may not be possible to meet all first choices. In these cases, we will always endeavour to place students on courses where they will be able to achieve success, and this will always be done in consultation with your child.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Thomson
