  • General Reminder

Extreme hairstyles in terms of colour and cut e.g. tramlines/patterns are not permitted. Braids must be the same colour as the hair and must be secured by bands of the same colour. Any hair bands or bobbles should be plain and of a sensible size. This includes bows in hair. We are starting to see large bows appearing in hair and would ask for your support in ensuring that they are plain, black and small.

How we learn

Below are some of our study skills strategies which we encourage students to use as a method of helping them to retain information in the long-term memory.  Actively doing something with the information that they have been taught is a really useful way of learning and remembering:

Evening of Dance

This years Evening of Dance is fast approaching! Tickets are now on sale, (2 per dancer). Take a look at some of last year’s highlights!

Homework and Self-directed study

Here at Freddie’s, we focus on six types of homework to help our students broaden, consolidate and extend their learning. Below is an explanation of why we try to set ‘Pod it’ homework or encourage our KS4 students to self-direct their study time at home:

For further information on how to get your child signed up to GCSE Pod, please use click here.

Microsoft Office

Did you know that your child can access Microsoft Office at home for free? As a student at Fred Longworth High School, your child is allowed to download a fully working free copy of Microsoft Office 365 to use on their computer, smartphone and tablet whilst they are a student at our school. Click on the button below to learn more.

Satchel:One

You can keep track of your child’s homework using Satchel:One. It is advisable to remind your child to get into the habit of checking their homework on Satchel:One regularly. Relying upon notifications is not the right approach and we advise students to turn off notifications so that they are not disturbed by them.

Homework Club

Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday in the Library (apart from Monday week B) where support and IT equipment is is available.

Attendance

We want to do all we can to support your child to be in school every day and ask that you support this important message from home, encouraging your child to avoid missing curriculum content through absence.  Here is a breakdown of the absences for the following attendance percentages:

Thank you for your continued support with attendance.

Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a tremendous day today celebrating the school’s 60th Birthday. Lots of pictures of our staff and students in their fancy dress costumes will be shared on our social media channels. The students have been excellent today and really bought into the spirit of the day which has been capped off with performances in a whole school assembly showing off the talent within our school. Happy 60th Birthday Freddie’s!

It will be business as usual on Monday.

Thank-you for your continued support.

Mr Davies.
