Freddie’s Summer Hampers – 2026

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you will hopefully be aware, we run our Hampers campaign both at Christmas and in the Summer. Six weeks can be a long time when you’re struggling and as a community, we understand times are tough so we as a school would like to do something to help.

Again, we would like all the children to get involved in helping us out to make hampers for the community.

Each form is going to be given a reusable bag and we would like, if possible, for each child to bring in 1 item from a list (or more if they are able) to put in this hamper bag. This could be as simple as a tin of spaghetti for 19p. We would love your support with this. If you are able to, please could you send your child with one of the items on the list. Their form teachers will cross off the list as we go so that all the hampers are roughly the same.

At Christmas we were able to send out hampers to over 30 families (2 bags per family), some to the local community and gave approximately 10 bags to the local food bank. At Christmas I put this in the letter: ‘There are 50 forms in total in our school, 1290 children and just short of 200 staff so that means that as a school, we could possibly make 50 hampers with around1500 items in in total to give back to our local community. This would be amazing!’. Your children smashed through this target and were absolutely wonderful. I wonder if we can make even more this summer?

We would love it if all the students could get involved in some way. It will be a wonderful feeling that they, as a form, can see the efforts of their hard work and know that they are providing some much-needed support for members of our community.

If you know any businesses that would like to get involved, please pass them the school’s details and we would be happy to discuss any help they are willing to offer.

We will be putting the bags together on Tuesday, 14th July so any items need to be in school by then.

Thank you so much for your support and have a lovely summer break when it comes.

Mrs Heywood.
