Please note:
GCSE Results Day is Thursday, 20th August 2026. You can collect your certificates in the school canteen from 9:00am. Please sign your “Post-Results request” whilst on site that day. This is to ensure we have your consent if you query your overall grade in any subject.

Dear Parent/Carer,
On our return to school in September the Heads of Department will review the GCSE results and may request a re-mark for exam papers if they feel it is appropriate.
On results day, in the envelope there will be a blank consent form which may be used if a re-mark is requested. This needs to be signed by the student and handed back to staff on results day. If a consent form has not been handed in, then one will be e-mailed to the student if needed. If one or more of any GCSE exam papers are on the list for a re-mark, we will contact each student by telephone.
Please ask your son/daughter to keep an eye on their e-mail account throughout September. Signed forms should be e-mailed back to school as we cannot proceed with a re-mark or an enquiry about results without it.
Each student has the right to appeal against their results even if it is not supported by school. If any exam papers are not chosen by school for a re-mark but you would like to put in a request, you need to contact the exams officer directly at the school via email to make the request by the 15th September 2026; this will enable us to meet the exam board deadline. It is strongly advised that you speak to the Head of Department before applying, as they will have reviewed all the results and be able to give you more in-depth information.
If you decide to request a re-mark there is no guarantee that marks will change, it can result in the overall grade going up, down or remaining the same. The fee for the re-mark will need to be paid to the school bank account before we can proceed with a request:
Account name – Fred Longworth High School
Sort code – 30-91-01
Account number – 14919760
Reference – student name & exams
If your child’s contact details have changed since leaving school, please let us know and we can update our records.
Kind regards,
Mrs S Waldie
Examinations Officer
