Opening of School
Fred Longworth County Secondary School opens for the first time as girls only school.
29th August, 1973
Death of Sir Fred Longworth
Sir Fred Longworth dies, 29th August, 1973.
1976
Change to comprehensive
School becomes a mixed gender comprehensive. Name changed to Fred Longworth High School.

Art block
Construction and opening of a purpose built Art block.
2013
Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
Fred Longworth Nowt2Do extra-curricular project is recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

New reception entrance built.

School celebrates its 50th anniversary with a number of events to mark the occasion.

Flexible Learning Building
Construction and opening of the Flexible Learning Building.

New building
Work begins on the demolition of our Humanities and Mathematics block. Construction of a new building takes place.

New Maths & Humanities Block
Our new building opens.

New School Development Starts
