Freddie's Focus

For Parents & Carers

Things to celebrate

  • This week, we shared our ‘Freddie’s Focus on the Stars’ winners during form time. Please ask your child if they were one of the lucky winners this time. Your child may have been recognised for their efforts and achievements in a particular subject area, or nominated for our Headteacher Award for their contribution to the wider school community.

  • Our students experienced a hugely successful PSHE day on Tuesday as part of their personal development curriculum.

  • We held a non-uniform day to raise funds for UNICEF and The Red Cross charities.

  • So many of our students are taking part in the extra-curricular opportunities available to them.  Here are just some of the opportunites that our students have taken part in this week: a dance workshop delivered by a member of the Centre for Advanced Training scheme, Y8 watched a touring theatre company performance of a Mark Wheeler play about issues surrounding drugs, Rugby, Football and our creative writing club ‘Fred Poets’ Society’. We encourage all of our students to get involved in as much as possible.

Message from the Headteacher

This week we have had to face continued disruption as a result of Covid. The level of staff absence that we have experienced in school has been unprecedented. I’d like to thank the majority of our parents and carers for their understanding and co-operation at this time. I will publish over the Easter holidays the updated guidance relating to student absence and COVID. After Easter, we will confirm a new date for the postponed Year 10 Parents’ Evening.  In the meantime, I wish you all a pleasant Easter.

Mr Davies.
