Things to celebrate

  • We were delighted at the number of Y11 students, parents and carers who attended our exam preparation evening on Thursday. For any parents or carers who could not attend, please be rest assured that all the information and resources shared on that night will be uploaded onto our website in the ‘Preparing for Exams’ section.

  • On Thursday, a number of our Y10 students attended the drama trip to the Royal Exchange to watch ‘Let the right one in’. Again, this was enjoyed by all involved.

  • A number of our Y9 students attended the English trip to Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’ on Wednesday. This was a hugely successful event and enjoyed by all.

  • This week, many of our students took part in our ’Día de los Muertos’, ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations in Languages, DT and Art. This involved students taking part in activities such as a Bake-Off challenge, craft club, film clubs and animation club and gaining a cultural understanding of this particular tradition.

  • Our History trip to Belgium took place over the Half term.  The students did us proud and by all accounts had a wonderful time.

A message from Chester the School Dog

Today has been my first day at school and I’ve been really busy working with individual students who have needed some support. It’s so exciting to finally be part of the Freddie’s Family! I’m based in the Inclusion Centre but will be having a good look around school over the next few weeks so please say hello when you see me.

Homework and Self-directed study

We have six types of homework which we set in order to broaden, consolidate and enhance your child’s learning.  Each week we will share with you one of the types of homework.

Please see below for this week’s ‘Practise it’ examples and our reason for setting this type of homework task (click to enlarge):

Satchel One

You can keep track of your child’s homework using Satchel:One.

Homework Club

Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday in the Library (apart from Monday week B) where support and IT equipment is is available.

GCSEPod

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all parents and carers of Y10 and 11 students that we have access to GCSEPod which is an online study platform. We would like all of our KS4 students to sign up to this and reap the benefits of it. Your child will have received an email from Mr Singleton about how to log on. Please encourage your child to do so.  For further information, click here.

Personal Development

The next character trait that we will be focusing on is being Trustworthy. Being trustworthy is one a key area to developing friendships and it will enable others to think highly of us. People want to see that we are honest and that we will be sincere and have integrity – others important personal qualities for us to develop. Key information on ‘being trustworthy’ is included below.

Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

You should have received a letter (sent via email) from myself regarding the forthcoming Remembrance Sunday Parade in Tyldesley on Sunday 13th November. This week in assemblies we have reflected on the importance of Remembrance Sunday and the letter invites students to take part in the parade should they wish to do so. All details can be found in the letter.

Regards,

Mr Davies.
