Things to celebrate
- This week was our spectacular Arts week: ‘Freddie’s Fringe Festival’. It has been wonderful seeing the quality of work produced and the high number of students involved. Events have included Music students performing at Factory in Manchester, a presentation event of GCSE Art work, the premiere of the film club’s release ‘It’s Not Alex’, and the ‘Speak Truth to Power’ event celebrating human rights in Art, Music and Drama.
- We were thrilled to see England International and former Freddie’s student Ella Toone featured on Granada Reports as part of the Euro 2022 coverage. She is inspiring us all and we can’t wait to see the squad’s success in the competition.

Homework and Self-directed study
Summer homework for our Year 10 students will be set once again this year:
This will be a powerful support for their final year at school, and help to embed good study habits in preparation for GCSEs. Their effort and engagement with summer homework will be graded upon their return in September and shared with parents and carers in the first set of Year 11 reports which are published in October.
Homework Club
Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday where they can complete work in a quiet environment with staff on hand to support them.
Personal Development
Over the next few weeks as part of our work on developing character we will be focusing on Empathy. If students have empathy, they will help and understand each other better, and learn to live in a rich and diverse community. We also want all students to feel that this is their school and they belong here. Key information on ‘having empathy’ is included below.

Message from the Headteacher
Monday 11th July sees the welcome return of our Student Led Conferences. These provide an invaluable opportunity for our students to reflect on their learning over the course of the last academic year. It is also an opportunity for you as parents and carers to come into school to support your child by listening to them as they articulate their strengths and areas for development.
Many of you will have seen Granada Reports this week when England International and former Freddie’s student Ella Toone was featured as part of the Euros’ coverage. Granada came into school to interview some of our students who are being inspired by Ella. She is a fantastic role model, and we wish her and the rest of the England team all the very best in the competition
You can view the video from Granada Reports below.
Thank you
Mr Davies.
