Freddie's Focus

For Parents & Carers

Things to celebrate

  • This week, a number of our Freddie’s talented dancers took part in the Wigan Borough Dance Festival. They were a credit to our school.

  • A number of our Y10 Drama students took part in a physical theatre workshop with the London Theatre Company: Frantic Assembly.

  • Students enjoyed a trip to the Manchester Opera House to see ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’.

  • Our Y11 RSL Music students completed their final performances on Tuesday evening and were fantastic.

School Reminders

  • Year 11

Examinations Night 24th March. Students and their parents are invited to an evening dedicated to providing specific revision strategies across the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. We hope you join us from 6:00pm until 8:15pm.

  • Year 11

Geography field trip on the 24th and 25th March.

  • Year 10

Work Experience week will take place next week.

  • Freddie's Evening of Dance

We are delighted that our much-anticipated and popular showcase will be taking place on 21st and 22nd March at 7pm in the Drama Theatre.

  • General Information

Please remind your child of the importance of having all of their equipment for every lesson so that they are ready to learn. Your child requires a pen, green pen, ruler, highlighter, earphones and calculator. These are available to purchase in school.

Homework and Self-directed study

This week, we’d like to share another of our homework strands: ‘Spell it’. This might include learning key vocabulary for a subject or understanding the etymology of words. Please remind your child to look through their exercise books to check if they have any spelling corrections to address.

Homework Club

Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday where they can complete work in a quiet environment with staff on hand to support them.

Personal Development

As part of our work on developing character, assemblies over the next few weeks will be focusing on Motivation exploring the importance of being motivated in order to achieve and be successful.

Message from the Headteacher

Thank you to all Year 8 parents and carers who attended Parents’ Evening on Thursday 10th March. This was our first face-to-face Parents’ Evening since January 2020 and it was a pleasure to welcome so many of you back into the building and for things to start to start to feel ‘normal’ again! We look forward to welcoming parents and carers of Year 10 students to their Parents’ Evening on Thursday 31st March.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr Davies.
