Tickets for our school show ‘The Addams Family’ are now on sale. The show will take place from the 13th March through to 15th March.
-
Evening of Dance
Our Evening of Dance will take place on the 25th and 26th March.
-
Good Manners
This term, we are continuing with our focus on good manners – encouraging our young people to be the best version of themselves that they can, responding to staff and their peers with kindness and respect.
-
General Reminder
Extreme hairstyles in terms of colour and cut e.g. tramlines/patterns are not permitted. Braids must be the same colour as the hair and must be secured by bands of the same colour. Any hair bands or bobbles should be plain and of a sensible size. This includes bows in hair. We are starting to see large bows appearing in hair and would ask for your support in ensuring that they are plain and small.

From 13th – 15th March our new building opens its doors for the first school show in our brand new, state of the art theatre! And what better way to cut the ribbon than with the amazing musical comedy ‘The Addams Family’! Our students and staff have been hard at work for the past six months putting this spooky extravaganza together and we can’t wait to share it with our students, parents and local communities. Tickets are available by clicking on the button below. Get them quick to avoid disappointment!
How we learn
Retrieval Practice is the act of bringing something to mind that you’ve learned before. Some of the ways your child can practise retrieval at home are as follows:
- Read, cover, retrieve.
- Create mini quizzes or complete those set by class teachers on Satchel One
- Create flashcards with a key question on one side and the answer on the back
Evening of Dance
This years Evening of Dance is fast approaching! Tickets are on sale from Tuesday, 5th March (2 per dancer). Take a look at some of last year’s highlights!
Homework and Self-directed study
Here at Freddie’s, we focus on six types of homework to help our students broaden, consolidate and extend their learning. Below is an explanation of why we try to set ‘Apply it’ homework or encourage our students to self-direct their study time at home:
Microsoft Office
Did you know that your child can access Microsoft Office at home for free? As a student at Fred Longworth High School, your child is allowed to download a fully working free copy of Microsoft Office 365 to use on their computer, smartphone and tablet whilst they are a student at our school. Click on the button below to learn more.
Satchel:One
You can keep track of your child’s homework using Satchel:One. It is advisable to remind your child to get into the habit of checking their homework on Satchel:One regularly. Relying upon notifications is not the right approach and we advise students to turn off notifications so that they are not disturbed by them.
Homework Club
Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday-Thursday in the Library (apart from Monday week B) where support and IT equipment is is available.
Attendance
We want to do all we can to support your child to be in school every day and ask that you support this important message from home, encouraging your child to avoid missing curriculum content through absence. Here is a breakdown of the absences for the following attendance percentages:
Thank you for your continued support with attendance.
Message from the Headteacher
And of course, next Friday is the fancy dress day for our staff and students – we are all very excited and very much looking forward to the event!
Thank-you for your continued support.
Mr Davies.
